A commissioned painting is the most rewarding for both the collector and artist alike. A collaboration of both leading to the creation of a specific scene, place and time. Given this it is important that both parties can be confident in and understand the process required.
The first step is to contact me to so that we can discuss the project and establish the level of input and research required. In simple terms a project can range from a highly researched painting reflecting an actual historical event, time and place to a more simple desire for a specific aircraft to be portrayed.
So if you are interested drop me a line with a brief explanation of what you have in mind and we can talk it through. At this time the size and aspect ratio (length & height) of the final painting will be agreed together with the level of research required.
Once a project has been agreed I will create several thumbnail sketchs of alternative compositions which will allow further refinement of the final layout. At this stage a 10% non refundable deposit is required.
The painting will be on un-mounted canvas, which will be rolled and dispatched in a sturdy tube. This will allow you to stretch and frame upon receipt to your own requirement.
My rate for a commision is $5.00 per square inch, with this price covering the final painting plus postage and packing. Therefore a 36"24" canvas will cost $4320. (36x24 = 864 x $5.00 = $4320).
Payment can be made in full once the painting is complete, or interim payments can be made if it helps with budgeting. If the project is cancelled for any reason only the 10% deposit is retained, with any payments provided up front being returned to you.
